Get ready for a game-changer! The highly anticipated Android 17 update is bringing a controversial yet exciting change to your notification and quick settings experience.
For over a year, rumors have circulated about a potential split in Android's notification and quick settings panels. Today, we have a leaked glimpse of what could be the future of Android's UI design.
The leak, shared by Mystic Leaks on Telegram, showcases a potential internal build of Android 17. The design is an evolved version of what we've seen before, offering a mature and refined look.
Here's the breakdown:
Under the 'Notifications' settings, you'll find a new menu called 'Notifications & Quick Settings'. This menu offers two options:
Separate: Swipe down from the top right to access your quick settings, and from the top left for notifications. A simple and intuitive split, giving you direct access to both panels.
Combined (classic): Swipe down from the top of your screen to access the traditional panel that combines notifications and quick settings. A familiar and convenient option for those who prefer the classic layout.
When you enable the 'Separate' option, a swipe from the left reveals your notifications. This build doesn't show any changes to the notification list itself, but you'll notice a larger clock at the top, with the day/date and status bar icons placed in pill-shaped containers at the corners.
A swipe from the right side of the screen brings up the quick settings panel, which is displayed in a sheet container at the top. Here, you'll find a miniature clock, followed by rows offering carrier information, QS edit, settings, and power options.
One exciting addition to the quick settings panel is the volume slider, now conveniently placed underneath the brightness slider. The three-dot button next to it likely opens the full set of sliders, giving you quick access to all your audio controls.
On larger screens, such as foldables, the 'Separate' option will be the default. The 'Combined (classic) view' will be limited to the outer screen of your foldable device, offering a more compact and streamlined experience.
Android 17 is also rumored to reintroduce a dedicated 'Mobile Data' quick settings tile, using a cellular bar icon. This tile will provide quick access to your mobile data settings, alongside the expected Wi-Fi toggle icon.
So, what do you think? Are you excited about this potential redesign, or do you prefer the classic combined panel? Let us know in the comments! We'd love to hear your thoughts and spark a discussion on this controversial yet intriguing update.
